We're off! (no, really. I mean it this time.)

After crying wolf for about 3 weeks straight, Clint and I are finally starting the first leg of our exciting North American road trip!
Our first stop is Portland, OR to visit my cousin Brian, his lovely wife Sarah, and their two young boys. From Sonoma, Portland is quite a long day of driving, but we plan on leaving early Sunday morning. Those of you who know me well know that by early I mean 8 or 9...After I've had a delicious latte from our beautiful espresso machine, of course. If there was a way we could fit that machine in the car and have it pump out espresso after espresso, we would bring it along. Alas, I doubt it would fit.
Packing the car actually proved to be easier than I thought it would be (partly because I didn't have to physically move anything into the car), as my sister has lived out of a van before. When Amanda was in New Zealand, she kept everything in boxes in the car. That way, instead of looking for that one bungee cord in your piles of crap, you could just move your boxes around until you found the one that most likely contained it. Pretty good plan we thought, and so all of our stuff is organized into bins and labeled. We'll see how long that lasts, but so far everything fits. Thanks, A-Way!
